Evidence-based strategies to prevent and heal Diastasis Rectus Abdominis and restore core integrity.
With Jennifer Gianni
Untold numbers of women, men, and children have a disconnect of tissue synchronization at the abdominal wall — which at its most severe manifests as a Diastasis Rectus Abdominis. Research shows that more than half of adult women have lumbopelvic floor and hip dysfunctions — and most of these include a DRA as the signature sign of fascial loosening in the core cylinder.
This workshop gives you the tools to recognize DRA, understand its full-body implications, and design creative, cutting-edge movement sequences that help your clients heal and advance. The work is based on the teachings of Diane Lee — the world's foremost expert on pelvic pain and DRA — with whom Jennifer studies annually in Vancouver.
Course Objectives
Your foundational Pilates knowledge and biomechanics training are the perfect foundation for this work. This workshop shows you how to apply what you already know in precise, targeted ways — and adds the clinical understanding to take your DRA clients from fascial loosening to fascial tensioning.
You'll leave with creative sequences for the mat and Reformer, a clear understanding of how to work alongside doctors and physical therapists, and the confidence to support clients who haven't found real help anywhere else.
What a DRA is, how it occurs, and what it means for full-body health — the anatomy, the fascial connections, and the systemic effects.
The individual parts of the central core, how they work synergistically, and how to train and strengthen them effectively.
Simple, progressive techniques on the mat that move a client with fascial loosening toward fascial tensioning — clearly and safely.
How the spring helps in this work — and how to use the Reformer's unique properties to advance the DRA client with creativity and precision.
